Meet One of Our New Neighbors: Daniela*
Born in Honduras, Daniela has three children, now ages 23, 18, and 5. Her two older children came to America in 2007 and her youngest was born here in the United States. She settled in Connecticut in 2010 with the dream of a better life for her and her family. Amid the pandemic and even after becoming sick with COVID-19 herself, Daniela continued to take B1C's English and citizenship classes, passing her exam and becoming a citizen on September 24, 2020.
All along the way, B1C has been at Daniela's side. We truly are The Center for Immigrant Opportunity. We carry on the centuries-honored American tradition of looking out for new neighbors. America is a nation of immigrants, holding out a hand to new arrivals like Daniela.
She is grateful to this country that opened its doors for her. B1C helps her make the most of the opportunities this side of that door. Just as Lady Liberty lifts a welcoming lamp in New York Harbor, we welcome new neighbors like Daniela here in Stamford.

Do the Neighborly Thing
At times, each of us needs a little help, and a little help goes a long way – especially for new immigrants to America. At B1C, we bring together our participants, volunteers, and the entire community to give our neighbors a hand.
We are inspired by immigrants’ bravery and determination to build a better life here and, even during a pandemic, to give back to the community. Clerking in grocery stores, driving cabs, cleaning houses – whatever their first jobs here maybe – they are essential workers.
Our new neighbors help support us; they deserve our support.
So please consider donating to make our vision a reality: a vision of building one strong, diverse, and inclusive community. Your support makes a big difference! We are proud to have caring friends like you.
Best wishes to you this holiday season. Stay safe & well.
