Community Hero: Building One Community

During times of crisis, our community comes together. This moment is no exception. Throughout Stamford and Darien, individuals and organizations have been stepping up to aid their fellow residents like never before. They deserve our gratitude and recognition. To that end, last week, we began collecting nominations of friends and neighbors who are going above and beyond to help others.

I’m proud to introduce you to our first “Community Hero”: Building One Community. Building One Community is a nonprofit organization led by Catalina Horak and Anka Badurina that provides a hub where Stamford-area immigrants can receive important services—ones that help them and their non-immigrant neighbors work together to forge a stronger community. Building One Community provides volunteers and community-partner organizations a safe, welcoming place to offer their experience and expertise to local immigrants, allows people learn from each other, and ensures unmet needs are satisfied.
