Driver's License Support


  • The registration process can only be done online through the DMV website
  • When you register you will be assigned a date and time for the written exam (after Jan 2, 2015)
  • You don't need to have a Tax ID number to register
  • You will need proof of ID (passport and consular ID are the best options, and you will need both) and
  • You will also need two proofs of CT residence (i.e. Bank statements, bills, school letters with your name and address)
  • You will need to take a Drivers Safety course; this is an 8 hour course and will only be valid if it is taught by a driving school authorized by the DMV
  • You don't need to take this course before you register, but it is recommended that you take it before the written test
  • You will only need to present the 8 hour certificate when you go to take the driving test
  • If you pass the written test, the DMV will issue a Drivers Permit; you will be able to take the driving test only after you have had the permit for at least 90 days 
  • You will need to make an appointment with the DMV- by phone only- for the driving test
